Among the things to see and do in the city are the historic museums and the Los Angeles County Arboretum. These museums have exhibits on the history of the town as well as artifacts from the past. Many of the items are more than four thousand years old.
The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanical Garden is a 127-acre historical site. Arcadia is also home to the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage, which displays various artifacts related to the history of the city. The museum has both temporary and permanent exhibits on display. Since 2001, it has hosted several exhibits and has been the backdrop for community programs.
Arcadia is also a popular place for young families. Although the population is predominantly Asian, you will find a large percentage of Whites in the area. With its pristine beauty, residents take pride in their community. While there are plenty of upscale restaurants and shops, the community also puts a priority on preserving its natural resources.
During the early 1900s, Arcadia was a quaint, small, and affluent community with paved streets and a few homes and businesses. In the 1930s, the city began to grow, with a construction boom that included bridges, a new public library, and home communities. By the 1970s, Arcadia became the first city in the United States to implement a 911 emergency number.
As the economy improved in the 1980s and 1990s, Arcadia was able to build many additional facilities. New schools were built, including a high school, a middle school, and a junior high. Despite the economy’s downturn in the mid-1990s, the city still maintained a good balance of quality economic development.
